P/S Just to add. I personally owned Elken, Coway and Diamond water filtration. I bought 3 x Elken RO & 2 x Coway RO water filtration machines. As far as RO water is concerned, I suggested Coway because she provides the best after-sales maintenance.

Use a soft sponge in cleaning, and the element lasts a long time.

Use a harder abrasive cleaning/scouring pad, and the element gets abraded very fast. This filter was fairly good in preventing silt/sendiment getting into the water. Unfortunately their website marks this as obsolete. My advice is to get the simplest filter you can find, but with some brandname (so that your father don't later force you to buy a second filter, like me getting overruled by everyone else in my home ).
