Hi friends, after months of work, I can proudly say that new site for patch exchange is born. Basic idea is to have patches for all guitar and bass processors at one place and to make it systematic, easy to use and very informative. I'll explain how it works in a few steps: 1. Register (Registration is FREE, and uploading and downloading patches are also free) 2. After confirming account via mail, you will be redirected to your page. Click on gear link, and fill out forms, as best as you can.
That informations will be used later and will help other users. Click upload in main menu for uploading patch. Here's the trick: instead of typing gear you used for creating patch, you can simply choose it from dropdown list (which is populated in previous step) This is the list of the supported processors. If I understood correctly, old processors can upload patches via midi.
Seems nice, I'll keep an eye on it. (like i voted) BTW: I hate captcha's, there are much more user friendly ways to verify human input these days. And the check for a secure password is a little over the top, it's only a patch exchange. Oh and i didn't receive the conformation mail and I'm 100% sure i used the correct e-mail address, you might check your e-mail server config. Last but not least I don't like the fact I can only upload patches AFTER i completed the 'my account -> edit -> gear' that's just to much hazzle, keep it simple. As it stands I'm happy with and have been for years, sorry.
Yep I got the mail in the meantime (took very long) but got a blank page when i clicked the link in the mail. A second click got me the message i had already used my validation link so i guess it was just the redirect that went wrong. As for the gear profile, i get what you're trying to do with the prefilled dropdown lists however IMHO it shouldn't prevent me from posting a patch. I mean, do it the other way around, fill the gear list with info you get from the patches posted.
Like if someone posts a Zoom G5 patch he probably has a G5 etc. Just suggesting. For starters, very cool idea, very much appreciated! Coupla Monday-am-QB observations: Variax patches Ditto Fender.incl Cyber series, G-DEC, and Mustang Ditto Peavey.incl Vypyr, Transformer, and ReValver Any thoughts of being able to host patches in collections.aka libraries? F'rinstance I have three libraries of all the basic amplifier (no-FX) patches for my Cyber Twin: Fender's version, my version with each approximating my take on factory gain structures, and the third being the same library but with all amps set for clean pedal-platform operation.
Lotta guys keep smaller libraries tuned to various room conditions and guitars as well. Very handy, having patches in batches. Another thought: Might not hurt to become Link Central, with links to as many other patch and GUI sites as possible.
F'rinstance, the Fender Cyber series has been through three aftermarket GUI's, only one of which is still supported. The respective patches, however, still exist out there but are getting harder to find absent the Wayback Machine. Anyhoo, a link page would be a neat way to cover the obscure bases. All that said, very cool project.here's hopin' it takes off!
